Ambulance crew utilisation re-imagined
Working with SA Health, Ground Effects Consulting was engaged to explore and address cost and effectiveness issues across inter‑hospital patient transfer services between two major metropolitan hospitals.
Through a structured, outcomes‑based approach, Ground Effects developed and presented several novel delivery pathways, enabling SA Health to assess options and ultimately select an internally led reconstruction and development model.
This approach involved redesigned workflows, optimised utilisation of SA Ambulance Service crews, structured prioritisation frameworks, and strengthened commercial and contract management.
The selected pathway reduced patient waiting times, increased safe daily transfer capacity, improved operational reliability, and delivered measurable cost efficiencies through smarter resource allocation and value‑focused contracting.
